We live in an era in which information has an ever growing presence and influence, and each person makes their decisions based on certain characteristics.
Everything has an inherent value that attracts the specific nature of those who want to look at it. It’s like an investigation whose purpose is centered on the unity and relationship between the real and the imaginary, the new and the old, the avant-garde and the traditional, and graffiti and classic painting. Through this encounter, everything acquires a new meaning in the world of painting; one that is different from what it would be if it was situated in the real world. It is an investigation about the specific characteristics and states of people or goods.

Eleven artists from different countries and fields (illustration, urban art, photography) show us their perspectives on one of the recurring themes in art and life: eroticism, and all of the imagery that revolves around it related to seduction, carnal pleasure and its rituals. It takes us to a dimension that has been experienced by all who live with one foot in fantasy and secrecy, and the other in stark reality. (more…)
Sebas Velasco enlightened us with his darkness. An authentic repertoire of pictorial poetry now hangs on the walls of the Montana Gallery Barcelona after a well attended inauguration full of familiar faces.
Paintings in varying sizes reaffirm the inherent contrast in this Burgales’ works, and piece after piece managed to fill us with the feeling that these were our own memories being shown.
Having been in contact with the graffiti world since 2004, Sebas Velasco defined his creative process while completing a degree in Fine Arts at the University of País Vasco. After a period of nomadic studying (Uk, Barcelona, Cordoba…), his style developed during the completion of his Masters Degree in Painting at UPV/EHU. (more…)
We thought that Smithe’s absence at his open inauguration for “Neon Daemon” was going to create a huge road block in such an important day. But it didn’t. The main stars of the event were the superb works presented by the Mexican artist. The dazzling chromatic games that make up Smithe’s new and increasingly sophisticated style are the perfect mix for works that splendidly unite ancestral tradition and technique.

Montana Gallery Barcelona invites the Mexican artist, Smithe (México, 1987), for the first time to Barcelona to present his work in our exhibition space.
“Since the beginning of time, demons have been the incarnate image for impious strength of the natural and supernatural; everything that leads us to err, to stray away from the path, and give ourselves in to our most primitive and heartless inner self.
Today I ask myself, what if it is us that’s reflected in the mirror? And what if the soul and its recondite confines contain all the impurity that we ascribe to imaginary beings which are alien to us? (more…)
